A Victorian homemade birthday card with violets and forget-me-nots. Purple violets signify faithfulness and love, white violets mean innocence and forget-me-nots profess true love. The card has obviously been cherished as it is very worn and smudged, with some foxing.

A folded Victorian greetings card, dated “Xmas 1899” inside, with “Best Wishes” and sprays of roses on the front, with an embossed, scalloped edge. Inside, the card reads “With every GOOD WISH for a happy CHRISTMAS” but it could be used for any occasion as the Christmas greeting is not visible on the front.

A Victorian New Year card with Father Christmas driving his sleigh. The grammar used for the message is very strange which might account for Santa’s glazed expression - that or wondering why he has a goat pulling his sleigh and it’s New Year, not Christmas! A handwritten note on the reverse gives the date as 1885.
