Gravensteen when it was Jean-Denis Brismaille‘s Industrial Complex in Ghent, Belgium. Vintage halftone etching circa 19th century. Gravensteen has played many roles, the Castle of the Counts, a law court, even a prison. At the beginning of the 19th century it was sold to architect Jean-Denis Brismaille, who converted it into an industrial complex. Eventually industry would move out and it would be renovated, becoming a center piece at the 1913 World’s Fair.
