Description
Great Blue Herons (Ardea herodias) are commonly found at shorelines and wetlands over most of the Americas. This heron was photographed at Marymoor Park outside of Seattle, where each year several dozen herons come together to build a collection of nests in the tall trees next to the Sammamish River. For most of the summer the herons raise their chicks and fish in the river and nearby Lake Sammamish.
