Description
The old chapel of St Jude, Harwood-in-Teesdale, County Durham. This chapel of ease is located in a very remote spot in Upper Teesdale at 1,500 feet above sea level. It was built about 1733 but was never consecrated. The chapel and adjoining schoolhouse closed just after the war and with the removal of the slate roof, the North Pennine elements have gradually reduced the buildings to the shell they are today. The only congregation nowadays are the local sheep who gather inside from the winds that rip down from neighbouring Cross Fell. sRGB embedded profile.
