Description
It is located on an artificial island on the sea of Ise Bay, about 35 km south of the center of Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, and about 1.5 km off the coast of Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture on the Chita Peninsula, and has a runway of 3,500 meters that can be operated 24 hours a day. It opened on February 17, 2005 as the second maritime international airport in Japan after Kansai International Airport. Along with Tokyo International Airport, Narita International Airport, and Kansai International Airport, it is positioned in the national aviation policy to be responsible for its aviation demand as an international base airport necessary for international air routes.
