Description
(Ariolimax Columbianus) The Pacific Banana Slug is the second largest land slug found in the world. They can grow up to 9.8 inches. These slugs are found on the western coast areas of the United States and Canada. They move by way of a muscular foot under their body, which is also their stomach. Some other characteristics they have, are 4 antennae. The tallest two are their eyes and the shorter ones they use for smelling and feeling. They have a pore opening on the side of their head for breathing to their single lung. The slime on their bodies is their defense mechanism. The slime causes numbness of mouth and tongue if ingested. These animals are decomposers. They eat dead plant and animal matter.
