Description
Close up with selective focus. The Latin name, Sciurus carolinensis, betrays the roots of this common UK mammal. Grey squirrels are blamed for the demise of their red cousins in the UK - I wonder how much it has to do with the larger size and greater adaptability of the grey, with the reds preferring the pine forests.
