Description
The Romans undermined mountains with water to mine gold in the area of Las Médulas which has left a spectacular vista of golden red peaks amongst the swaying green trees. In late summer swifts populate the red peaks in their thousands and you can clamber through remaining tunnels, sometimes bent double, and imagine a world of the past.
