Description
"Reflecting the beauty of late afternoon sunlight off its 6,500 panes of glass, Biosphere 2 rests quietly in the desert. It is an extensive science research facility originally created to study the interaction between Earth's life systems in a closed environment. Two separate missions were initially launched with scientists sealed within the vivarium for up to two years. They studied five different biomes: rainforest, ocean with a coral reef, mangrove wetlands, savannah, and desert. The complex is now run by the University of Arizona and is considered a place where research, teaching and studying the Earth's living systems can be accomplished in the world's largest closed system ever created."
