The Copenhagen University Astronomical Observatory, Brorfelde, was established in 1953 on the hills of Zealand some 70 km west of Copenhagen. Up until 1996 it was an active place of research and education, but the scientific activities was then moved the European observatories in Chile and the Canary Islands.
