Description
(Tamiasciurus douglasi) The Douglas squirrel in endemic to the Pacific Northwest. It can be found in California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada and British Columbia. It prefers to be in coniferous forests. This diurnal squirrel eats, cone seeds, fungi, bark, sap, fruit, berries, arthropods, and bird eggs. They are easily distinguished by their red brown colored fur. Their under parts are an orange -yellowish color. They have a white eye ring, and the front teeth are orange.
