Castries, Saint Lucia, Windward Islands: Gros Piton (top) and Petit Piton (bottom) from the air - The Pitons Management Area is an area in the southwest of the island of St. Lucia, a few kilometers south of the town of Soufrière. The protected area includes: the Caldera Qualibou with several later volcanic domes and the two cooled volcanic cores , the 770 and 743 m high Pitons, a geothermal field with sulfur fumaroles and thermal springs ( Sulfur Springs ) as well tropical rainforest, subtropical rainforest, dry forest depending on the altitude zone and a marine area with species-rich coral reefs.
