Description
Madeline Island is found in Lake Superior. Though it is the largest of the Apostle Islands, it has a permanent population of less than 250. The lagoon in this photo is in the interior of Madeline Island, a wildlife refuge. These islands were home to Native Americans, particularly the Lake Superior Chippewa. The lagoon remains a favorite place for canoing.
