Description
Red fir tree, Abies magnifica, with curved trunk caused by weight of snow bending it when young. In this subalpine area, snow can reach 20 feet deep and remain on the ground 9 months of the year. Tree trunk grows straight above the snow pack level. Lassen Volcanic National Park, California, USA.
