Description
Early in the morning on a cloudy day at the Waipapa Point Lighthouse, a break in the cloud on the eastern horizon allows the warm glow of dawn to shine through, lighting up the lighthouse and some of the clouds. The lighthouse is located in the Catlins area, on the south coast of New Zealand's South Island, east of Invercargill. It was built after the wreck of a passenger steamer cost 131 lives and was first lit on 1st January 1884. It was one of the last wooden lighthouses to be built in New Zealand and is a popular tourist destination for visitors to the area.
