Description
A rollmop, pickled herring fillets rolled around a sliced pickled gherkin. Rollmops are a traditional dish that can be traced back to Northern Europe and have been a staple food. They gained popularity in Germany in the early 19th century and are now commonly eaten in large parts of the world, and are also associated with Ashkenazi Jewish cuisine. Sliced pickled onion and allspice berries, used to flavor the marinade, are also seen in this photo.
