Yangon / Rangoon, Myanmar / Burma: Sule Pagoda under a ray of sunshine, late in a rainy afternoon - The Sule pagoda or paya is a temple located in a round-about in downtown Yangon. The Mon pagoda design stupa has an octagonal section. Previously, the pagoda was located on an island in the Hlaing River. During the English occupation, the city center of Rangoon was restructured, with the pagoda at its center. Since then, Sule Paya has served as a reference for kilometer distances to the north of the country. The temple has four entrances, oriented towards the four cardinal points. According to tradition, some Buddha 's hair is preserved inside.
