In the thirty-one year of Wanli (1603), Emperor Shen of the Ming Dynasty decreed that Laojun Mountain was "the world's famous mountain". Laojun Mountain is now a world geopark, a national AAAAA tourist attraction, a national geological park, a national nature reserve, a provincial key cultural relic protection unit, a sacred place for Taoist believers in northern China, and an outstanding representative of landscape culture in the Central Plains.
