Description
"TIG stands for Tungsten Inert Gas, and uses a high power electrical beam from a tungsten welding tip to heat up the materials to be welded together. A jet of Argon gas is used to prevent oxidisation at the point of welding. This shot shows the electron beam in the centre which is the white cone, surrounded by the Argon gas jet that has been ionised to a plasma radiating purple light. This image was shot with a Canon EOS 5D MKII and a Canon F2.8L 100mm Macro lens. Please see the other welding image here."
