Description
Tulip tree or poplar tree (Liriodendron tulipifera) is large deciduous tree, native to eastern North America, but can be found in Japan as well. It grows to 20-30 meters tall. It is noted for its cup-shaped, tulip like flowers that bloom in late April and early May. The flowers are yellow with an orange band at the base of each petal. In Tokyo, you can find them as street trees as well as in some parks.
