umbuzeiro (or umbu tree) is a tree endemic to Brazil that occurs in the caatinga biome, preferably in the semi-arid climate. The umbuzeiro lives for an average of 100 years, and is considered a symbol of resistance. The fruit of the umbuzeiro, umbu or imbu tree has great economic importance, as it is widely sold fresh.
