Description
Female witch in a black cape and hat sneaks up on an innocent blond girl in an ancient medieval sporti, one of nine tunnels in the fortified village of Castel del Monte in Gran Sasso National Park, L'Aquila province, Abruzzo, Italy, Europe. This village is associated with witches and a legend that claimed the only way to break a cursed spell on sick children was for parents of the sick child to walk through the village under seven sporti tunnels at midnight. This ritual was practiced until 1950s and is celebrated in an annual festival each August 17 called La Notte delle Streghe, or Night of the Witches.
