Description
The yellow-headed caracara (Daptrius chimachima) is a bird of prey in the family Falconidae, the falcons and caracaras. It is found in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, every mainland South American country except Chile. The yellow-headed caracara is omnivorous and relies heavily on scavenging. Much of its diet is taken while walking on the ground, but it does some hunting on the wing.
