Amasya Castle is located on the Harşena Mountain, which covers the north of Amasya City Center. Also known as Harşena Castle. It is 700 meters above the rocky sea on which Amasya Castle is built and 300 meters above Yeşilırmak. The castle has been rebuilt every time during the Persians, Romans, Pontus and Byzantine eras. The Turks conquered Amasya in 1075 and saw a major repair in their condition. The castle, used until the 18th century, lost its military meaning after this century. There are cisterns, reservoirs, bath deposits belonging to the Ottoman devrine, and Pontic King Tombs carved on the rocks. An important part of the fortification walls survived.
