Deadwood, United States - June 20, 2015: The Wooden Nickel Casino in Deadwood, South Dakota is housed in a beautiful historic sandstone building. In the foreground is one of many signs for saloons in town - Deadwood Dick's. The town of Deadwood is the resting place of Wild Bill Hickok, who was shot from behind during a poker game in the town in 1876. Deadwood started as an illegal settlement in Indian Territory - land given to the Lakota Indians. But when gold was discovered there the influx of miners was tremendous and Deadwood became a lawless town of over 5,000 people. Today it is more of a tourist destination in the Black Hills, but gambling still rules, with several casinos in the area.
