Salzburg, best known for being the birth place of the composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the setting for the musical movie "The Sound of Music" and for it's baroque architecture. The old town is one of the best-preserved city centers in Europe, therefore it became an UNESCO World Heritage in 1997. Walking along the Getreidegasse, Salzburg most famous - and by tourists most overrun - street, brings you from the Old City Hall via the Mozart Birthplace towards the Loretto Spiritual Center of St. Blaise. Along the way, plenty of wrought iron guild sign - today uses as a marketing sign for known brands - can be seen.

Salzburg, Austria - December 03, 2009: A parade of the "Krampus" beast-like creatures march through the historic city of Salzburg on the eve of St. Nicholas Day (the procession is called a "Krampuslauf"). From the folklore of Alpine countries, the Krampus is thought to punish children during the Yule season who had misbehaved. During the first week of December, several Krampus groups can be seen marching through towns across Austria.
