In Senegal, where colonialism activities of Portugal, Holland, England and France, respectively, for centuries, respectively, the slave trade is based on the beginning of the 16th century. The historians say that the Portuguese from Senegalese youths who arrived in Goree Island on the capital's Dakar openings in 1444 had drunk with alcohol they did not know until that day.

Gorée Island is one of the 19 administrative districts of the Dakar city of Senegal. The island is situated about 2 km west of the main port of Dakar with an area of 0.182 km². It was first colonised by the Portuguese, followed by the Dutch, British and French. The island is now a UNESCO world heritage site and is very popular with tourists and Senegalese alike.
