Stunning view looking down to the village and surrounding countryside for miles around. Corfe Castle is a fortification standing above the village of the same name. Built by William the Conqueror, the castle dates to the 11th century and commands a gap in the Purbeck Hills on the route between Wareham and Swanage, Dorset. It is owned by the National Trust and is open to the public. The name "Corfe" is derived from the Old English word, ceorfan, meaning to cut or carve, referring to the gap in the Purbeck hills where the castle is situated. May 15, 2023.

Swanage, UK - September 27, 2013: This is Swanage Station, Dorset, on the swanage Railway. This is a preserved heritage steam railway that runs from the seaside resort of Swanage to the the village of Corfe Castle. This is a restored railway line that was reopened for tourist traffic after being closed in the 1960's. It is a very popular tourist attraction for holidaymakers and visitors to the area. People and passengers are watching a train arrive at the platform.
