With cold weather, fog, dwarf trees and many epiphytic plants hanging from the bark and branches, cloud forests are located above the level of 1600 meters of altitude. Given the height the trees no longer grow as much as in the inshore areas, where tropical rainforests and dry tropical forests among others grow. The cloud forest in Costa Rica is synonymous with biodiversity, bird watching, hiking and hiking, rivers and streams with cold and icy waters, freshness and pure mountain air. Some of the most representative areas of the cloud forest are: Monteverde, San Gerardo de Dota, El Cerro de la Muerte, Talamanca and Chirripó, Poás, Barva, Turrialba and the upper parts of the volcanoes of the Cordillera de Guanacaste and Tilarán, such as Rincón de la Vieja, Miravalles, Tenorio, Orosi, etc. Without going any further, costa Rica's cloud forest is home to more than 755 species of trees. According to biologists, there are more than 358 kinds of ferns, some of which grow to incredible sizes, which can even be mistaken for other trees. There are about 40 or 50 species of fruit trees, so it is a place where a lot of birds and mammals can live perfectly. A total of 425 species of birds, 68 of bats, 6 of felines, foxes, sloths, armadillos and numerous amphibians and reptiles have been counted. Some of the animals, especially birds, do not live permanently in the forest, but come looking for fodder for their nests, and leave again. Freshwater is water found naturally on the Earth's surface in ice sheets, ice fields, glaciers, icebergs, wetlands, lagoons, lakes, rivers, and streams, and below the surface as groundwater in aquifers and groundwater streams. Freshwater is generally characterized by a low concentration of dissolved salts and a low total of dissolved solids.1 The term specifically excludes seawater and brackish water, although it does include mineral-rich waters, such as ferruginous water sources. The term "fresh water" originated from the description of water in contrast to salt water.
