Machu Picchu, Cusco, Peru -August 04, 2013.This semi-circular stone construction which was build over a strong rock is the Temple of The Sun. Located in the centre of Machu Picchu’s Urban Sector, the Temple of the Sun is one of the most iconic buildings within the ancient area. Constructed on top of a naturally formed rock and above the cave of the Royal Tomb, the structure is one of only a few buildings in the entire Inca Empire to feature a curved outer wall. The structure is beleived to be an astronomical observatory, the tower has several niches for placing offerings and a large rock in the centre, aligned with the sun’s first rays on the morning of the June solstice. The structure has a spectacular mountain view as for all spots in Machu Picchu. There is a agricultural terraces which can be seen under this structures. Tourists from all over the world were visiting the area.

Machu Picchu's Temple of the Sun. The Temple of the Sun is located in the urban sector and can only be entered through a large access gate which was provided with double beams and a closure mechanism to provide the necessary means of protection and security. This is a semi-circular construction built over a strong rock, adapted to the natural environment, there is a tower with a trapezoidal window built over a rock of pure granite.
