The Fontaine de la Fédération (English: Federation Fountain) on the Place de la Liberté (English: Freedom Square). It is the main square in downtown Toulon. Created in 1852 by the architect Gaudensi Allar and his brother, the sculptor André-Joseph Allar.

To the right is the Dixmude, an amphinious assault ship, a helicopter carrier. The Charles de Gaulle is the largest naval vessel in Western Europe and weighs 38,000 tonnes.
