Rusty old cannon on Trekroner Fort, which is a small artificial island outside Copenhagen, Denmark. It was first constructed in 1713 by sinking three naval vessels - one of which was named Trekroner (Three crowns) - to prevent foreign ships from attacking the danish capital. The construction of the present fort began in 1787 and was an important part of the danish defense line against the british during the attacks in 1801 and 1807.

Trekroner Sea Fortress (Three Crowns Sea Fortress). A small, artificial island with two distinctive red barracks, situated at the entrance to Copenhagen Harbor. It was originally part of the Copenhagen Fortifications. Today, Trekroner is one of the Copenhagen Fortifications’ outreach centers. It has a schools service that organizes special teaching activities, and also offers a downloadable smartphone app and game.
