Description
Stupas atop Borobudur, the 9th Century Mahayana Buddhist temple that is the largest Buddhist temple in the world. The multi-level structure is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. The main dome is surrounded by 72 Buddha statues each of which is seated inside a perforated stupa. Damaged by earthquakes over the years, it has had numerous restorations, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
