Description
Karang Huisman is a sea mountain north of Tayandu Island, a long shallow reef sloping down to sand and washed by a current from the west. The coral community is dominated by large table Acropora with huge Porites colonies scattered about, and large patches of Isopora. On this view Porites corals dominate the scenery. Porites is one of the most common scleractinian coral species on Indonesian reefs. The average of coral growth rates ranged from 0.8-1.2 cm/year. So these corals must be quite old. There is Acropora coral in front and there are some Isopora corals behind. Some Pyramid Butterflyfishes Hemitaurichthys polylepis are there, a lot of Threespot Dascyllus Dascyllus maculatus and in the background some Sleek Unicornfishes Naso hexacanthus.
