The Scorpionfish, a predator, uses the camouflage as a hunting skill. In a reef full of sponges, tube worms, hydrozoans, corals, the outline of the fish often disappears completely. This is a very small juvenile specimen of 20mm length. The large, forward pointing tentacles above the eyes are distinctive for juvenile specimen.
