Description
Lava Ash Ice Pyramids on Sólheimajökull Glacier Southern Iceland. The ash acts as an insulater that keeps the ice from melting when exposed to sunlight and rain. Pyramids start to form as the surrounding ice starts to melt at a faster rate than the less exposed ash covered glacier ice.
