Description
Lespedeza is a flowering plant in the pea family and commonly called bush clover or Japanese clover. Some species are grown as garden or ornamental plants, and are used as forays crops, and as a means of soil enrichment and for prevention of erosion. Lespedeza, like other legumes, has root nodules that harbor bacteria capable of nitrogen fixation from the air into a soil-bound form. Its flowers are either red or white and are in bloom from July to October.
