Description
Chlorocebus pygerythrus is an Old World monkey in the subfamily Cercopithecinae, native to Africa. It may be known as the vervet monkey, which may also refer to all members of the genus Chlorocebus. The five subspecies can be found throughout southern Africa, as well as in eastern countries. It was introduced to the Caribbean, on the islands of Barbados, on the island of Saint Kitts and Nevis, through the slave trade. These vegetarian monkeys have a black face and gray fur, up to 50 cm long for males and 40 cm for females.
