Piranhas, in Alagoas, is a historic city on the banks of the São Francisco River, known for its well-preserved colonial architecture. It played a key role in Brazil’s cangaço history, as the place where Lampião’s gang was defeated. The city’s colorful houses, viewpoints, and boat tours along the river attract tourists.
