The unique hoodoos that form the main attraction at Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Park, outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico. This particular morning was unseasonably cold, which resulted in almost no one being in the park. It also allowed the snow from the week before to remain.

In this view, a distant cabin can be seen within the Valles Caldera National Preserve. The area was once part of a Spanish land grant involving the historic 89,000-acre Baca Ranch in northern New Mexico near Los Alamos. This pristine land was formed from a huge super volcano (caldera), where a series of massive eruptions took place eons ago. The area is also distinguished by vast meadows, volcanic domes, and hot springs. In 2015, management of this unique federal preserve was being transferred to the National Park Service. In recent years, Hollywood has used this public site for movie making and for filming the television series Longmire.
