Lalibela is one of Ethiopia's holiest cities and is a center of pilgrimage for much of the country. Timkat is the Ethiopian Orthodox celebration of both: Epiphany and the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River. This festival is best known for its ritual reenactment of baptism.
