Pretoria Central Prison and the gallows, now a museum in memory of the political prisoners in the apartheid era. It holds between 300 and 500 inmates. Pretoria in South Africa is also known as "Jacaranda city" due to its trees planted in the city streets and parks. It is one of the capital cities, together with Cape Town and Bloemfontein. Pretoria is an academic city hosting three Universities.
