The portrait of Queen Elizabeth I (1533 - 1603) is depicted in this vintage steel engraving by W. T. Fry (1789 - 1843). Made after a painting by Zucchero (1529 - 1566), it was published in an 1835 collection of English portraits and is now in the public domain. Note the multiple symbols of power, such as the "eyes and ears" of the kingdom on her dress and the serpent on her arm.
