This vintage illustration depicts King Henry VIII standing with his members of his court. From left to right are Queen Anne Boleyn, Henry VIII, Queen Jane Seymour, Queen Catharine Parr, Princess Elizabeth, Edward VI, and Queen Mary Tudor. Illustrated and painted by Albert Kretschmer (1825 - 1891), it was published in an 1882 collection of illustrated costumes of the world and is now in the public domain.

Horse Guards Parade formerly the site of the Palace of Whitehall's tiltyard, tournaments, jousting held during the time of Henry VIII. It was also the location of the birthday of Queen Elizabeth I. The area has been used for a variety of reviews, parades and other ceremonies since the 17th century.The adjacent Horse Guards building was once the Headquarters of the British Army. The Duke of Wellington was based in Horse Guards when he was Commander-in-Chief of the British Army. The current General Officer Commanding London District still occupies the same office and uses the same desk. Wellington also had living quarters within the building, which today are used as offices.

Anne Boleyn (c. 1501-1536) was the second wife of King Henry VIII of England and the mother of Queen Elizabeth I. Anne's refusal to become Henry's mistress and her subsequent marriage to him were major factors in the English Reformation. Her inability to provide a male heir led to her fall from grace and her execution on charges of treason, adultery, and incest. Despite her controversial reputation, Anne was admired for her intelligence, wit, and fashion sense, and remains a popular historical figure
