Hernán Cortés in Texcoco de Mora: In 1520 the troops of Hernán Cortés occupied the city and killed Cacamatzin, Nezahualpilli's son and the last independent tlatoani, installing Ixtlilxochitl II as a puppet ruler. Cortés made Texcoco his base and employed Texcoco warriors in the Siege of Tenochtitlan. Wood engraving, published in 1888.

Peter III the Great at Col de Panissars Peter III of Aragon (c.1239 November 1285) was King of Aragon, King of Valencia (as Peter I), and Count of Barcelona ( as Peter III ) from 1276 to his death. At the invitation of some rebels, he conquered the Kingdom of Sicily and became King of Sicily in 1282. The Battle of the Col de Panissars was fought on 30 September and 1 October 1285 between the forces of Philip III of France and Peter III of Aragon. It was a severe defeat for the French, who were already retiring over the Pyrenees when the Aragonese fell on them. Original edition from my own archives Source : Ilustración Artística 1899 after M.
