Description
The collegiate mother church was built on the highest part of the urban center, in the territory called terra vecchia, which is the seat of the first people. In all likelihood this was always a territory on which it was built for sacred use in fact before this church there was another in Renaissance style. Its traces are still visible in the current church. In fact, one of the bell towers has a bas-relief on which the Christ symbol of the tree of life is depicted; there are still the walls adjacent to the tower where the wood is now stored or it is still possible to visit the portal of the chapel of the visitation and the walls inside the bell tower where the bell holes are still visible. The baptistery font in walnut with gold decorations that was restored in 1980 and the baptismal font in stone can also be traced back to the archaic church. The coat of arms, on the decision of the municipality, was moved from the old to the new religious building and was placed on the pillar positioned to the left of the main altar. The church with this symbol was not only a sacred place but also the defender of the symbol of the whole community.
