Description
Semicircle Angelfish Pomacanthus semicirculatus occurs in the tropical Indo-West Pacific from the Red Sea and East Africa to Samoa, north to southern Japan, south to Western Australia and New South Wales, including Lord Howe Island in a depth range from 1-40m, max. length 40cm. Juveniles inhabit shallow protected areas, while adults prefer coastal reefs with heavy coral growth providing ample hiding places, like these two specimen do under a ledge. The species occurs generally solitary or in pairs, feeding on sponges, tunicates and algae. Triton Bay, Kaimana Regency, Indonesia, 4°0'49.848 S 134°12'13.116 E at 15m depth
