The Bumphead Parrotfish (Bolbometopon muricatum) is a large and distinctive fish found in the Indo-Pacific region, known for its prominent bump on its forehead and powerful beak-like jaws. They can grow up to 1.3 meters in length and weigh up to 45 kilograms, making them one of the largest species of parrotfish in the world. They play an important role in coral reef ecosystems as they graze on algae and corals, which helps to maintain the health of the reef. However, they are also heavily targeted by commercial and subsistence fishing, which has led to significant declines in their populations. As a result, they are listed as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
