These small beach huts The beach huts were commissioned from different artists and are part of the Festival of Britain 60th anniversary celebration to bring the seaside into the heart of London.

Outside the Hayward Gallery, off the South Bank Centre, is a huge straw 'urban fox' named Susan. It is one of several installations for the Festival of Britain 60th anniversary celebrations, which stretch from April 24 to September 4, 2011, on the South Bank next to the River Thames. The festival celebration includes a museum that chronicles the original Festival of Britain, and event that heralded Britain's emergence from the Second World War. The large building on the other side of the Thames is Shell Mex House, now correctly known as simply 80 Strand.

London, England - January 4, 2020: the photo shows the pedestrian concourse in front of the Royal Festival Hall - one of the largest concert venues in London - with, in the distance, two other concert venues, the Queen Elizabeth Hall (QEH) and the Purcell Room; all these buildings form part of the Southbank Centre next to the River Thames. Huge numbers of tourists and Londoners flock here, to walk along its pretty riverside embankment and go to bars, restaurants and cafes. The Royal Festival Hall was originally built as a centrepiece of the Festival of Britain, and was opened in May 1951. The QEH and the Purcell Room were completed in the late 1960s and built in concrete in an architectural style known as 'brutalism'; they reopened to the public in April 2018 after being completely refurbished and updated.
