Old growth hardwood trees at Congaree national park in central South Carolina. This national park protects some of the tallest trees in the eastern United States, and the largest forested area of bottomland old growth hardwoods. The trees including many Cypress actively growing or fallen support moss and lichen growth as well as habitat for numerous animals including deer, feral pigs and owls.
